Hospitality graduate students are eligible to register for an independent study course throughout their time in the degree program. An independent study course is a project based course that covers a topic that is not covered in the regular curriculum. Students are responsible for securing a hospitality full-time faculty member to supervise this course.
Course Options
- HOA 781: Independent Study – up to 3 credits (Masters) | up to 6 credits (PhD)
- HOA 782: Independent Study – up to 3 credits (PhD only)
- MHA 681: Independent Study in Hospitality Administration
How to Enroll
- Secure Faculty Chair. Students must find a full-time hospitality graduate faculty member to supervise the independent study.
- Complete the Independent Study Authorization form via DocuSign.
- Wait for permission to enroll. Your form will be reviewed, and if approved, you will receive permission to register for the selected course.
- Register promptly once permission is granted, it is your responsibility to register for the course before the start of the term.
Please note: Pre-authorization is required for all independent study courses. No retroactive approvals or late registrations will be permitted.
